Letter from the Principal

Life is not easy and is full of challenges. Some of the challenges are easier to navigate and some are much harder. In difficult situations, we need to rely on our friends to help us through this life event and point us to Jesus as a source of hope and strength. I can recall times in my life in which my friends encouraged me to keep moving forward and not quit. I am sure you have had events in your life that you can recall a community of friends to pray with you and guide you in this process to move you ahead.

The Bible verse for this month is from Hebrews 10:24, which says, “Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.” The goal this month is to work to encourage each other to do what is right and set an example that is worth following. One important part of friendship is having people who will support each other when things are difficult. When we try to do hard things on our own, we are likely to feel discouraged and not succeed. Working with our friends to lift the heavy burden to Jesus who can provide His prefect strength in our time of weakness.

The following are four ways to support your friends. The first step is to seek understanding. Work to find out what is needed. The second step is to show empathy. How can we try to put ourselves in their situation to understand? The third is to show compassion. The fourth step is to act. We can pray for our friends or work to support them in their time of need. This is a process that will ask us to put others first and demonstrate a life of service. Putting these steps into practice to encourage and support each other to do good works to strengthen the kingdom of God. What are ways that your friends and neighbors could use encouragement? May God give you the strength to find ways to support your friends.

In Christ,
Brian J. Betts
