Pastor Clayton ~ June

Mary Martin   -

After three years of walking with, learning from, and speaking with Jesus, His disciples found themselves left seemingly alone on Mount Olive. In just a moment everything changed when the One that had been with them ascended into heaven and was no longer physically in front of them. However this wasn’t the end. As those gathered stood staring into the clouds, two angels came to them and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.” With these words the message was clear. The end had not come, but would one day, when Jesus returns from heaven just as He left.

Ten days later the disciples would again see how the end had not yet come, as the Holy Spirit was poured out on them on the day of Pentecost. From that day on, the work of the Church, of Christ’s disciples, has continued as they shared the Gospel, speaking of what Christ had endured for you and giving His great gifts to you. From that day on, the Church has continually gathered together to share the love of Jesus, grow in faith, and serve whatever community it finds itself in.

And that has not changed over the last 2,000 years. We still meet regularly to do exactly the same thing. And even though school is out and schedules are different for a few months, the Youth Group will continue to meet together throughout the summer so that we can continue to grow together.

Those going into 6th grade through those who’ve just graduated high school are welcome to join us as we gather around campfires, go exploring in God’s creation, and join together to praise God with songs at Lifest. We’ll be meeting on most Wednesdays over the summer, but make sure to check the schedule to see dates, times, and locations for all of our activities.

To keep up to date on the Youth Group’s summer activities, please check out the Youth Ministry page on Immanuel’s website. There you’ll find the Youth Group schedule to download and a link to join the Youth Church Center Group. Joining the Church Center Group is the best way to keep up to date on information and to stay connected over this summer.

I look forward to this summer as we continue to share, grow, and serve together, preparing for the day that Jesus returns from heaven, just as he was taken up into it.

Blessings,
Pastor Bryce Clayton
