“Stick Together”
This past month, the classroom teachers have been working on building a team of students who will work together. During this time, they have had lessons on what is expected as they work to stick together and not do their own thing. In the classroom, if there is going to be a joyful noise made, the students need to work in harmony. This month, the theme the school is working on is “Ohana: Stick Together.” The Bible verse in Romans 12:9-10 says, “Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourself.” This verse serves as a reminder to support one another and show compassion toward others. The story behind the word “ohana” is that it is a Hawaiian word meaning family. The deeper meaning of this extends beyond our immediate or extended family to encompass all people in our community. When people describe the school, the word “family” comes to mind due to the many students from various families who all work together as brothers and sisters in Christ.
Family ties run deep, as there are students in the school who are fourth-generation students. So, what can you do to live out ohana in your life? Some things to consider are how to help in our community. It always is amazing to see school families help out others in a time of need. The kindness club at school, along with classes participating in service projects, helps to live out the mission of serving the community. How can you make a difference in your community by being a good neighbor, by saying hello, or having a lunch conversation with them? You are showing you care.
As children of God in the heavenly family, we will have earthly differences that can challenge our
relationships. Jesus has promised that no matter what we do to fail in our lives, he will forgive us and has died on the cross for our sins. Jesus will stick with us no matter how badly we have messed up. Go and share the love of Jesus, grow in your faith, and serve community this month.
Blessings,
