Share the Love of Jesus
God commands all believers—us—to share the love that he gave us. 1 John 4:19 says, “We love because he first loved us.” Any love we have is a gift we have received, and we can joyfully give it away. The amazing thing about love is that we give it away, yet we never run out of it when Jesus is our source. Sharing the Good News of what Jesus Christ has done for us—forgiving us and securing our home in heaven—is the greatest expression of love there is!
As we have recently gone through our time of strategic planning, it has me pondering our mission statement and how we as a congregation are living it out. So I ask you now; how are you sharing the love of Jesus? The first of the three main pillars of our mission statement is also the one I would guess most people find the most difficult or abstract. We know how to grow, we know how to serve, but sharing the Love of Jesus can sometimes trip us up. With that in mind I want to give you 2 concrete steps you can take to better internalize this part of Immanuel’s mission:
- Care for the people around you – Sharing Jesus’s love means treating all people as the children of God that they are. How can you go out of your way to to show what God’s love has meant to you?
- Invite people to something – We had a great variety of events, Bible studies, fellowship times, and service opportunities. What have you enjoyed being a part of at Immanuel and who in your life can you invite to join you next time?
