Serve Community

Before ascending into heaven, Jesus gave us the Great Commission as recorded in Matthew 28:19–20, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” At Immanuel we believe that commission is for all believers. We seek to serve community in our town, in our county, in our state, in our nation, and throughout the world. We seek to find ways to help people where they have needs and then share the Good News of Jesus with them.

Service is an important part of the Christian life. Jesus showed service throughout His time incarnate on earth, culminating in His saving death for us. We also see Jesus’s desire to serve shown in the washing of His disciple’s feet. Before the Last Supper and his eventual death, Jesus takes on the role of the lowest of servants and shows the extent of His love for them. Upon completing this act of service, Jesus says to his disciples, “If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.” Jesus commands us to serve as he has done, to put others before ourselves, and through that share the love of Jesus.

At Immanuel, we have a variety of ways to serve, some year round and some in different seasons of the year. Check out where you may be able to serve:

Ruby’s Pantry: Ruby’s pantry is a low cost food distribution service that takes place on the 3rd Saturday of each month. Volunteers are always needed to help sort, box, and load food into the vehicles of recipients.

Usher Teams: Each week our worship only run smoothly because of the work our usher teams do in assisting with our services. We are always looking for more people to be a part of this ministry.

Greeters: Every week we have new people coming to our church to see what Immanuel is all about. Greeters can serve an important role of welcoming visitors and inviting them to be a part of Immanuel’s ministries.
