Rooted in Christ
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness”
Colossians 2:6-7

As the summer months provide opportunities for rest, family time, and new experiences, we are also looking ahead with excitement to the 2026-2027 school year at Immanuel Lutheran Church and School. Our theme for the coming year is “Rooted in Christ” based on Colossians 2:6-7.

A healthy tree can withstand storms, droughts, and changing seasons because its roots run deep. In the same way, God desires that His children be firmly rooted in Jesus Christ. When our faith is grounded in God’s Word, we are strengthened to face life’s challenges, grow in wisdom, and serve others with confidence and love.

In a world filled with constant change and competing messages, our mission remains the same: Share the Love of Jesus, Grow in Faith, and Serve Community to help students build a strong foundation in Christ. Throughout the coming school year, students will be encouraged to deepen their relationship with Jesus through Christ-centered learning across all subjects.

Being rooted in Christ means more than simply knowing about Jesus. It means trusting Him, depending on Him, and allowing His truth to shape our thoughts, decisions, and actions. As students grow academically, socially, physically, and spiritually, our prayer is that they will develop deep roots that keep them connected to their Savior throughout their lives.

Colossians 2 reminds us that as we are rooted and built up in Christ, we become strengthened in faith and overflow with thankfulness. What a wonderful goal for our school community! We pray that students, families, staff, and congregation members alike will grow deeper in their faith and find joy in the countless blessings God provides.

As you enjoy the summer, take time to nurture your own roots through worship, prayer, Bible reading, and family conversations. We look forward to welcoming everyone back this fall as we begin another year together, firmly Rooted in Christ. May God bless your summer and prepare our hearts for the year ahead.
