We have an entertaining day coming up this Saturday – Immanuel’s Oktoberfest will take place in the Mission Center from 11am to 3:30pm. Here’s what is on tap:

  • Food: A tasty lunch of bratwurst, hot dogs, and German potato salad along with some great beverages
  • Fun: There will be games like cornhole and a putting green outside. Inside, take part in a raffle with incredible prizes! Or, spend your time dancing to the …
  • Music! The Polka Plus Band will play all your favorite polkas.

And all of the food, fun, and music is free thanks to generous donors in our congregation and our community. Grab a friend and come on down!

Helpers: The committee organizing the event has openings for helpers during the event. They need 4-6 people to help with food or clean-up on Saturday. Come to the Red Wall to volunteer, or simply reply to this email.

As St. Paul reminded the believers in Corinth, God blesses us abundantly – so that we might become a blessing to others (2 Corinthians 8–9). Many of life’s most joyful people are those who live generously. Generosity isn’t something we teach ourselves – it’s a gift from our generous Creator.

  • Those who give their time often find it gives back to them. Their hearts are encouraged by appreciation, and they feel the joy of serving others.
  • Those who offer their talents know the blessing of using their unique gifts to build up others and glorify God. They experience fulfillment in their service.
  • Those who give their treasures – no matter the amount – often feel a deep satisfaction in sharing what God has entrusted to them. Many find even greater joy when their family joins them in these acts of generosity.

Join us for a free, biblically grounded session on how to steward the gifts God has entrusted to you. Learn how to be wise and generous in ways that honor Him and bless others through your estate. The presentation will be next Sunday, October 11 featuring Josh Douglas, LCMS Gift Planning Advocate.

Josh will also be available for free, one-on-one estate planning consultations in the days following the presentation.

Immanuel needs donations of bags of candy for our Trunk or Treat event. Please consider bringing some bags with you to church and dropping them off at the Red Wall or at the school office.

Volunteers also needed to host a trunk. Grab a friend and volunteer together! Trunk or Treat takes place October 24.

Each fall in Wisconsin Rapids, hundreds of volunteers come together to help our elderly and disabled neighbors with fall leaf raking during the annual United Way Day of Caring. This year’s event will take place on the morning of Saturday, October 24.

Immanuel has a raking team that will be led by Brian and Thea Hanson. Can you help? Please volunteer by October 15, if possible – all participants registering before that date will receive an event t-shirt. Rake in the morning and then Trunk or Treat in the afternoon!

Join the raking ministry action team through Church Center.

  • Names for Potential Board Members: If you would like to suggest a congregation member to be nominated as a Board member, please speak with our Vice Chair Jeff Christensen. You may also stop by the Red Wall – or reply to this email – and we will forward your suggestions to Jeff and the Nominating Committee. Would you consider Board membership? Pray about it. Talk about it with our current leaders. See if it is a fit for you!
  • Are you a caregiver for a parent, spouse, or friend? Do you know someone who is? We encourage you to check out Powerful Tools for Caregivers, a class designed to support those caring for loved ones. Registrations due by Tuesday at the ADRC. See the link for details.

Each Wednesday, students and staff at Immanuel Lutheran School start their morning with a chapel service. They join together in prayer, song, a message, and the monthly Bible verse! In the first picture, students with “baptism birthdays” in August or September are celebrated during chapel. The second picture shows images from a chapel service which was led by our 8th Grade students.
This past Friday was National Custodian Appreciation Day. It is a fitting time for all of us to thank Wanda Halbur and Cindy Knorr for the tremendous work they do to keep our church clean. We have many other volunteers who join in to clean. We thank you, as well! At our school, Shelbie and Sal Mosca of Blissful Cleaning thoroughly clean the building each day.

Cleaners: God has blessed Immanuel through you. May He continue to bless and keep you, as well!

Please take time this week to say a prayer of thanksgiving for all who make our buildings clean!
