Rooted in Christ
Our theme verses this year come from Colossians 2:6-7
“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him
and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.”
Just as a tree depends on deep roots to withstand storms and continue growing, the prayer is that every student at Immanuel develops deep spiritual roots in Jesus Christ. The world our children are growing up in constantly changes, but God’s Word remains the firm foundation on which they can build their lives.
This year is the 143rd school year at Immanuel Lutheran School, and students will be encouraged to strengthen their faith through school activities and Christ-centered education. The mission is to help students not only know about Jesus, but grow in a personal relationship with Him that shapes how they think, speak, and serve others.
Being Rooted in Christ also reminds us that spiritual growth happens over time. Just as healthy roots are often unseen, God is continually at work in the hearts of His children. Every Bible lesson learned, every memory verse recited, every chapel message heard, and every act of kindness demonstrated helps deepen those roots of faith.
Parents play an essential role in this journey. Thank you for partnering with Immanuel Lutheran Church and School. Your example of faith at home, your encouragement, and your prayers reinforce what students are learning each day at school. Together, we can help our children grow into young men and women who are firmly rooted in Christ and prepared to share His love wherever He leads them.
As we begin this new year, let us pray that God will continue to strengthen our entire school family, helping us remain rooted in His grace, built up in His truth, and overflowing with thankfulness for the many blessings He provides.
