I moved back to Wisconsin Rapids after being away for 11 years after my husband, Todd, passed away from cancer. I have two daughters: Carly, who lives in MN, and Cassidy, who lives with me now, and my black lab Ace. I have two siblings who still live in the area: my brother in Rapids, and my sister in Grand Rapids/Kellner. I love spending time with my girls. I was a church secretary for six years at Immanuel Lutheran Church and School in Gaylord, Minnesota.

I am truly blessed to be back in a church family and have the love and support of the congregation. That means so much to me because family is everything to me.

I absolutely love working in the office setting. I hope I serve all the congregation with the blessing of my work here. I will bring my compassion, my love of the Lord, and my enjoyment to help in any way to make Immanuel Lutheran Church and School a better place.

Our school’s theme this year is “Endure” (Hebrews 12:1-3). Briefly share a time in your life when you felt you needed the endurance that only God can provide. How can you use your experience to share God’s love with the students and families in our school?

When I got a call in the morning when my youngest daughter was involved in a head on crash from a drunk driver going the wrong way. With God I endured the pain of almost lossing her so close to when my husband passed away. With the Lord’s help I was able to push through the horrible nights following that. With Him by your side and putting everything in his hands is a very hard thing to do. But he gives us the strength (Endurance ) to get through. That passage I went through with my family helps me help other people to cope with what they are Enduring in their life. That we lift all our struggles to the Lord!

What is something that always makes you smile?

Seeing my girls and how they have grown into such loving and caring adults. Spending time with my nephew’s children and hearing them say, “Aunt Mary, you’re here.” My family tells me they can tell who is on the phone because of the smile on my face, which would be my friend Dan.
